Are you looking for fun things to do in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula this summer? Whether you’re a local, a visitor, or just someone curious about what’s going on in our part of Virginia, I’ve got a lineup of events and destinations you’ll want to check out.

The Northern Neck spans more than 760 square miles, and every town has something going on, especially during the summer months. You’ll find open-air concerts, fireworks shows, Christmas in July celebrations, weekly farmers markets, and so much more.

If you’re into food and drink, you’re in for a treat. Our local vineyards and breweries are offering some one-of-a-kind food truck experiences this season. Let me share a few highlights from different areas in the region:

1. Westmoreland County. If you’re looking for a weekend itinerary, Westmoreland County has you covered. As one of the largest counties in the Northern Neck, it offers a mix of historic charm and lively waterfront energy. This summer, it’s the place to go for fireworks displays, family-friendly festivals, and music by the water.

• July 9, 2025 - Wine Down Wednesday: Experience an open-air concert at Stratford Hall.

• August 2025 - Annual Water Festival in Colonial Beach: A fun-filled day featuring pirate and mermaid games, bounce houses, and activities for the whole family.

• Weekend Concerts - High Tides Restaurant: Enjoy live music on the beach, weather permitting.

• August 2025 - Arts and Crafts Festival in Colonial Beach: A showcase of local artisans and crafts.

“Whether you're a solo visitor or bringing the whole family, there’s fun for everyone.”

2. Warsaw. Warsaw might be smaller in size, but it’s big on community and music. This small town has become renowned for its Fourth Fridays concert series, where locals gather to enjoy great music, food vendors, and warm summer evenings. If you love meeting makers and picking up fresh, local produce, the community farmers market is a must-visit.

• Every Second and Fourth Saturday - Community Farmers’ Market: Shop local from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This list only scratches the surface. Each county and small town has its own set of festivals, music nights, and family-friendly activities. If you’re ever unsure where to go or what’s happening, we’re happy to help.

We’d love to help you plan your summer adventures. We hope to see you out there enjoying all that our beautiful region has to offer.
